Who are we if not a big pile of flesh? I experienced finding myself trapped inside someone else head for a day, all eyes on me. While my gestures seem unchanged, I found myself very much silent, almost mute, lost in the constant noise of Europe’s capital. Explaining my absence of speech or thoughts is not an easy task. The absence of a mouth cut in the mask could be seen as one of the explanations; however, it may be largely due to the fact that I embodied another human skin, and thus human life. I stopped thinking and focused on my visual observation to detect the glance of others. Becoming unrecognizable was a pleasant while confusing sensation. My inner self felt totally invisible while my new face attracted the attention of the passers-by.
I did not try to recreate someone or something in particular. School project shot in Brussels by Ross McClean and Pedro de Filippis in 2017.
